ABOUT AMELIA DOHERTY

Frequently Asked Questions:WHAT IS A \"STAKEHOLDER GOVERNANCE ANALYST\"?In a sentence, I support Higher Education providers through changes to either themselves or their regulators, such as mergers and registering for the first time with the OfS. I also support them with their data regulatory requirements.WHAT IS A \"GOVERNANCE ASSOCIATE\"? In a sentence, I provide consultancy to educational bodies on their governance, including Universities and Students\' Unions, specifically with a focus on student voice and academic governance (i.e. how the university system contributes and reacts to student feedback).WHAT IS A \"CHICKEN HISTORIOGRAPHER\"? In a sentence, I write history papers on chickens for no other reason than I can. On occasion, this lets me go to conferences and explore my cultural horizons. I believe I\'m the only person at the moment who is a chicken historiographer. I can confirm that it\'s pretty interesting. My book \'Introduction to the Medieval Hen\' will be published in 2026.WHO ARE YOU?I have a wide range of experience in education, events planning, equality and inclusion, and research. In research, I was the first undergraduate to present to the Social History Society, and have presented across the UK as well as continental Europe. I have received prestigious scholarships, including EU Heritage Funding, as a result of my work, and am very open to joining research teams. Additionally, I have had the honour of presenting for very respectable groups, such as the East Kent Medieval Heritage team, the University of Oxford, and the Public History School, Wrocław, Poland. In 2024, I travelled to the University of Trento, Italy, to present to the International Reynard Society.Outside of academia, I have taken on a number of community roles, and excelled in these, resulting in both regional and national awards as an individual and a team member. In teams, we were national runners-up at the National Society and Volunteering Awards 2023, regionally we were recipients of York\'s Student Volunteering Award, as well as at university-level I have been part of teams that have won the Sustainability Award and Fundraiser of the Year. Individually, I am the runner-up of the \"Opportunities for All\" Award at the National Societies and Volunteering Awards, winner of the Love York Award \"Outstanding Contribution to Student Life\", and shortlisted for LGBTQ+ Young Role Model of the Year at the Queer Students Awards.
