ABOUT AMELIA GEARY

In 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic, I was faced with 2 options - head to university or complete an apprenticeship to allow me to work and study simultaneously. I decided to start my apprenticeship as an accounts assistant, and quickly progressed to an accounts executive. During this time, I built up my client portfolio, taking responsibility in assisting clients to prepare statutory records such as year end accounts, VAT returns and tax returns, along with management accounts and bookkeeping processes. My current role is an S5 UK Accounting Services Associate, with Grant Thornton, progressing from S4 in October 2024. As my career growth continues, I aim to continue progressing my technical knowledge, with a focus on the wider company through the training and mentoring of colleagues and business development activities. I now focus primarily on the preparation of compilation accounts for owner managed businesses, subsidiaries claiming exemption from audit and accounts for third party audit.I am both AAT level 3 and level 4 qualified, passing them both with a distinction in 2021 and 2023, and am now studying my ACCA Level 7 qualifications. I am the global prize winner for the ACCA March 2025 Taxation exam, securing the highest mark in the world at 97%. I was also shortlisted as a finalist in the 2022 Milton Keynes Apprenticeship Awards, which put me up against 2 other individuals in the Business & Law Apprentice of the Year category, when studying for my AAT.I finished my A-Levels at Northampton School for Boys in 2020, securing A*A*A in economics, psychology and maths respectively.
