Since 2019, I have been dedicatedly serving as a Phlebotomist at an NHS practice, where my primary responsibility involves performing venepuncture, adhering strictly to practice protocols. My role extends to maintaining meticulous records on the medical system, scheduling appointments, and processing tasks as needed. I have been instrumental in conducting new patient health checks and NHS health checks, while also supporting the practice nurse with various health promotion programmes. My duties also encompass executing baseline observations like pulse oximetry, blood pressure measurement, and temperature checks, ensuring all findings are accurately recorded. I facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients with utmost care and precision. My responsibilities also include performing simple dressings, managing BMI checks, and acting as a chaperone when required. I have also been involved in administering vaccinations and carrying out ear irrigations, post-training, under the supervision of the practice nurse. Ensuring the accurate execution of ECGs, providing support during minor operations, and ensuring all clinical rooms are well-stocked and prepared for each session are also under my purview. I diligently monitor and record fridge temperatures, ensure clinical waste is managed effectively, and replace sharps bins in alignment with the practice IPC policy. My role also involves delivering opportunistic health promotion whenever appropriate, always prioritizing patient care and safety.
