ABOUT ANNE-MARIE BURNS
Anne-Marie Burns is a computer science technology teacher at Collège de Rosemont. Since she has been active in various aspects of technopedagogical research and development. Her first encounter with a computer was in second grade in an elementary school music classroom. That computer was equipped with a game where the task was to fly bats onto the staff to form musical notes. This first encounter triggered a passion for technology, music, and pedagogy that are still reflected in her research interests. Dr. Burns has completed a B.Sc. in computer science and a M.A. in music technology at McGill University, a short program in learning sciences at University of Montreal, and a Ph.D. in biomechanics at University of Rennes II. She has received several international research internships, notably at the Infomus laboratory, University of Genoa, Italy, at École des mines de Paris in Sophia-Antipolis, France, and at the Event laboratory, University of Barcelona, Spain. She has also worked as a research engineer at INRIA, Sophia-Antipolis, France. Her research focuses on the usage of computer vision for guitar fingering recognition and on the relevance of the usage of virtual humans for motor skills training. She completed her postdoctoral research on the development of an online learning platform for guitar teaching at the Faculty of Music at the University of Montreal.
