ABOUT AMBREEN SAYANI

I am a physician, social scientist, and policy advisor with expertise in health equity. I founded and lead the Improving Cancer Care Equity (ICCE) Lab, through which we conduct innovative, interdisciplinary research, engaging communities to promote equitable cancer prevention, early detection, and access to high-quality care. As a recognized global expert in equity-focused cancer policy, I collaborate with national and international organizations to address the social and structural determinants of health that drive inequities in cancer care outcomes. I hold leadership roles across multiple sectors, including providing consultation on national health equity and policy issues. As the scientific lead of Equity-Mobilizing Partnerships in Community (EMPaCT), I work closely with diverse, underserved communities to co-create inclusive patient engagement practices, co-design equitable healthcare services and co-develop grassroots policy recommendations aimed at advancing health equity. My research is highly collaborative, mobilizing patients, healthcare providers, and policymakers to develop evidence-based solutions that promote equitable care. I have received numerous awards recognizing my contributions to leadership, research, education, innovation, and quality improvement in healthcare.
