ABOUT AMBIKA PANDIT

A Journalist with over two decades work experience in the mainstream news industry, I would say it is the idea and belief in purposeful storytelling that drives me to write day after day. The years spent in the profession have not diminished in any way the thrill that finding a good story gives me as a reporter. I take pride in my identity as a field reporter. From a skill set perspective I feel journalism has helped me evolve and enabled me to pick up a diverse understanding of working in newspapers, learn the nuances of storytelling and news writing. While journalism is about learning everyday, in terms of a formal education I hold a Maters of Arts ( Political Science) degree from Delhi University. My graduation too was focused on the same subject. I hold two post-graduate diplomas - one in mass communication and another in print journalism. My first introduction to the world of journalism happened with a one month internship at \'The Pioneer\' daily newspaper in February 2001 followed by a training period on the desk and reporting in \'Delhi Mid Day\'(August 2001 - March 2002). I also worked with \'The Asian Age\' newspaper (May 2002 - June 2005) where I got the opportunity to pursue different beats, grow as a reporter and create space for my byline in a very competitive industry over a three year span. I have been working with the Times of India since July 2005. Even after 20 years in the same organisation, I feel there is much to learn and it is the quest to explore that makes me go looking for stories each day. I feel the journey defines my experience.
