I sit at an unusual intersection: 8+ years building infrastructure on the ground, 2+ years advising governments on policy and reform, and now, structuring the finance that makes large public investment happen.At HUDCO, I work in and private sector lending, credit appraisal and business development across urban infrastructure, roads, real estate, energy, airports and seaports. The work demands fluency in three languages simultaneously: engineering feasibility, financial risk, and policy intent. Getting all three to align, so a project becomes bankable, is harder than any of them looks individually.My core conviction: the gap between a well-designed infrastructure project and a bankable one is rarely technical. It is a translation problem. Someone has to bridge the engineer who builds and the financier who funds. That is the role I have built toward, deliberately.The infrastructure finance ecosystem in India is at an interesting inflection point. NIP, the push for institutional bond market development, the evolving role of DFIs, and increasing MDB co-financing are creating a structural shift in how large public investment gets mobilised. I intend to keep building at the intersection of those forces, credit, policy, and capital structure, and write more consistently about what I am seeing from the inside.

   HUDCO is India\'s premier development finance institution for urban infrastructure and housing, operating under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).Working in HUDCO\'s and private sector lending vertical, the interface between government policy, project finance, and private capital.Core responsibilities:· Credit appraisal of infrastructure projects — financial analysis, risk assessment, and structuring recommendations across hybrid annuity, and direct lending transactions· Business development — identification and pipeline development for and private sector lending opportunities· Policy interface — engaging with ministry, state governments, and sector regulators on project-level and policy-level issuesWhat the work has taught me:Credit appraisal in a DFI is fundamentally a translation exercise, converting engineering feasibility, revenue assumptions, and counterparty quality into a coherent risk narrative. Development finance also asks a second question commercial banks do not: what happens to the sector if this class of projects does not get funded?Sector focus: Urban infrastructure, roads, real estate, energy, airports and seaports.
