ABOUT AMBER HINAHON
I am currently dual-hatting within the realm of DoD Emergency Management, a USAF Flight Medicine Reservist, & a licensed financial agent. My passion is in the field of Public Health and Infection Prevention. I am an advocate for evidence-based practices, educating families and communities with the right tools. Over a decade of military and healthcare experience, my history of expertise includes evidence-based research and implementation, data analysis, conducting epidemiological health care and construction risk assessments, creating and establishing local health policies. In addition, I identified unsafe working conditions that have potential harm through occupations and work environments. I held positions as a consulate for both medical employees and executive staff members. I oversaw the development of facility construction in association with occupational health and safety. I worked directly with public health staff and officers, bioengineering specialists, and Executive Medical Staff.Additionally, I have clinical managerial experience leading disaster response teams for three medical facilities. I had the opportunity to educate medical teams on utilizing and appropriating medical supplies, coordinating with local firefighters, ambulance services, Inspector Generals. I have a history of involvement with emergency preparedness, response, and recovery to natural and man-made disaster incidences. My training also includes instructing and training military personnel on chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear exposures, terrorist attacks, hazardous spills, and environmental exposures. I have been involved with aircraft in-flight emergency responses due to gaseous exposures, technical malfunctions, and worked with hyperbaric chamber facilities for treatment. The role as an IP takes on a different dynamic in hospital settings. Our non-patient administration role includes case tracking, research and policy evaluation, constant updates and being flexible with those changes, and being an advocate for our patients through trend analysis and speaking with our healthcare providers. Our strength is to follow the health risks, trends within the community and within the hospital, and be proactive in decreasing various surgical site infections, bloodstream infections, VAPs, and ensuring our facility is up to par in the ability to care for our patients in the correct environment.
