ABOUT AMBER C. SLADE

I work at the intersection of higher education, career development, and mental health.Throughout my career in higher ed, I have seen how closely career decisions, identity development, academic readiness, and emotional well-being are connected. Students and professionals are often navigating pressure, expectations, and uncertainty at the same time they are trying to figure out who they are and where they belong. As Associate Director of CAPE at Guilford College, I lead programs focused on integrated advising, career readiness, and experiential learning. My work involves building equitable and sustainable systems that support student exploration, connecting students with employers, and helping them translate their education into purposeful career pathways.Alongside my work in higher education, I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of NC, providing therapy to adults, couples, and groups navigating life transitions, stress, anxiety, grief, identity development, and overall uncertainty.I believe career development, education, and mental health should not exist in separate conversations. The work of building a life is deeply personal and lifelong. I am here to help others explore their options, enhance their self-trust, provide resources, and connect the dots.
