ABOUT ROBERT B. NOLAN

I was recalled to active duty in the Foreign Service for one year as of June 2011. My recall has now been extended for a second year from June 2012 until June 2013. I originally retired from the United States Foreign Service in Oct. 2010 after a wonderful career of over 34 years from 1976 to 2010 which included overseas tours of duty as follows- U. S. Embassy in Conakry, Guinea (General Services Officer)- U.S. Embassy in Antananarivo, Madagascar (Management Officer)- U.S. Interests Section in Havana, Cuba (Management Officer)- U.S. Embassy in Helsinki, Finland (Management Counselor);and - U.S. Consulate General in Monterrey, Mexico (Principal Officer).My final assignment was at the U.S. Embassy in Maseru as the United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Lesotho from 2007 to 2010. It was a great three years. In fact, it was the best three years of my career. I also served multiple tours of duty at the United States Department of State in Wash. D.C. during my Foreign Service career including the following- I had three assignments in the Bureau of Human Resources as Office Director for Career Development and Assignments, Office Director for Performance Evaluation, and Office Director for Overseas Employment- In the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, I served as the Executive Director- In the Bureau of Administration, I served as Division Chief for Overseas Procurement- In the Office of the Under Secretary for Management, I served as Director for Management Policy and Planning as well as a Special Assistant- After retirement in Oct. 2010, I was employed as a rehired annuitant at the Department of State in Rosslyn, VA in the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations as a Senior Advisor from Dec. 2010 to May 2011.Since June 2011, I have served as the Director of the Office of Resource Management and Organization Analysis in the Bureau of Human Resources at the Department of State.Specialties: Management
