About Amar Bhat
Dr. Amar Bhat is the COO at the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the FDA, a not-for-profit organization created by Congress to advance the regulatory science and public health mission of the Food and Drug Administration. In this role, he is responsible for developing and initiating new programs, working with a wide variety of partners in government, industry, academia, patient groups and elsewhere to plan, manage, and implement activities in support of the FDA.At OHSL, Dr. Bhat was responsible for managing the growing portfolio of pharmaceutical-related activities, including working with industry, academia, funders, and multilateral organizations. OHSL brings together biomedical researchers to accelerate and advance research and treatment including therapies and diagnostics for diseases afflicting humanity, especially therapies that will be more effective and affordable.From 2014 to 2016, Dr. Bhat was President of TwoFour Insight Group, LLC. As one of the co-founders he provided assistance to companies and business associations in achieving their stakeholder engagement and advocacy objectives. Prior to TwoFour Insight, Dr. Bhat was an Assistant Vice President for International Affairs at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). Dr. Bhat began his career with the U.S. Government, working in the Fogarty International Center of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and later serving as the first Director of the Asia-Pacific office within the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, building a team of health representatives and attachés positioned throughout Asia. Dr. Bhat has a Ph.D. from The George Washington University in Public Policy (Science & Technology Policy), a Master’s in Public Policy from Duke University, and a Bachelor’s in Chemistry, also from Duke University. His doctoral dissertation was on the Economic Impact of Biomedical Research.
