As a project manager with Unleashing Potential, I have in recent years overseen the development of its schools and communities programme. Current work focuses on creating initiatives in Luton aimed at raising the aspirations of children in primary and secondary schools as well as in community settings. This is part of the Raise Your Words programme. See Selected projects:\'Lord\'s Taverners civic participation\'- Developed a programme around the Cricket World Cup 2019.\'Be Champions\'- Learning experience and stadium tour for schools - 2015 to Present with Wembley Stadium Learning Zone.\'Luton Foodbank Journalism Challenge\'- Work with local high school pupils to develop marketing campaign to raise awareness of food poverty in the town - 2018 to Present.\'Mad Science Club\'- Working with community groups around Luton to promote STEM careers to young children.\'Day of Inspiration\'- spoken word poetry workshops with primary schools - 2011 to Present\'Be Inspired\' employability workshops - 2018 (In partnership with community radio station Inspire FM)\'World Cup Week of Learning\'- 2014 and 2018 (In partnership with schools from around Luton, and community partners Luton Foodbank and Luton Town Football Club)\'Raise Your Game\' employability workshops - 2013 to 2014 (In partnership with Luton Borough Council, National Careers Service and Job Centre+)Mentoring project at Luton Sixth Form College - 2013 (In partnership with Mosaic)Unleashing Potential was established in 2009 with the intention of enabling people to recognise their unique talents and empowering them to make a positive impact within their families, communities and wider society. This includes through its Project Malawi initiative. As ever, the concept of skills sharing – that one can make a positive contribution to his or her community through involvement in initiatives that will utilise their experiences, knowledge and abilities – remains core to UP\'s vision.

ABOUT AMAR AZAM

An experienced project manager who has developed programmes focusing on creating stronger communities and enhancing skills. Currently running Unleashing Potential\'s education projects, both in primary and secondary schools, as well as community initiatives. Current projects include-\'Careers & Mentoring Club\' community programme- Wembley Stadium \'Day of Inspiration\'(Primary and secondary Schools)- Journalism for primary school children, with a focus on communication skills at Key Stage 2- Creative and persuasive writing for Key Stage 3 and 4- Sports journalism workshops for disengaged readers/writers focusing on boys in particular- British Science Week \'Mad Science Club\' Have in recent years focus on initiatives around shaping aspirations in young people, literacy through sport, skills development (employability and mentoring) and social justice. A Premier League accredited football writer, who has written for the national newspapers for 18 years. Also, since 2013, a governor at Luton Sixth Form College.
