ABOUT AMANDA THAYER
From childhood experiences at a marine science camp in the Florida Keys, I developed a deep appreciation for sustainability and our environment. Witnessing the decline of coral reefs each summer fueled my decision to pursue a B.S. and M.E. in Ocean Engineering at Texas A&M University, focusing on offshore renewable energy instead of the traditional oil and gas path. Sustainability is a core value in my personal life, and I am making an effort to incorporate it into my professional life as well by leading a “Green Team” at work to pitch eco-friendly initiatives. We recently had a big win by getting all of the single use plastic utensils offered in our kitchens removed and replaced with reusable ones! I aspire for my future role to integrate my passion for the environment, regenerative and sustainable practices, and decarbonization with my engineering background - leveraging demonstrated skills in problem solving, analytical thinking, and technical expertise.
