About Amanda Gilmore

My current full-time role is to lead the residential initiatives and housing operations at Moravian University for a campus of about 1,200 residents.Additionally, I founded Speaking Alongside, my own DEI speaking and consulting company, in March of 2021. My clients, inside and outside of Higher Education, have endorsed my work as impactful, responsive, engaging, and change-inducing. As an out and proud bisexual woman with some very privileged and also some very marginalized identities, I am driven by deep empathy for others\' experiences. My own (ongoing) journey reminds me that the most impactful change is not just driven by information, but by relationships.

   Oversee the overall operation of university housing, including opening and closing of halls, off-campus release process, student assignments, upperclass student room selection process, and residence hall key inventory and distribution- Directly supervise the Associate Director of Housing and the Assistant Director of Residence Life- Maintain student residence information through management of spreadsheets and information management systems- Strategize and propose initiatives to increase student housing retention and occupancy - Develop maintenance and project management in collaboration with Facilities - Facilitate the purchasing and management of residence hall furniture- Track and monitor departmental budget- Oversee residency and meal plan appeals- Update and maintain departmental website and social media accounts- Assist the Office of Event Management with summer conference groups that require room assignments and keys- Support student staff with the design and implementation of community development initiatives - Encourage the development and ownership of student responsibility, programming, and leadership- Review residence hall information reports and determine appropriate intervention and follow up with staff- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Residence Life on the training and professional development of the residence life student staff, as well as staff acknowledgment and recognition efforts, including but not limited to Staff Appreciation Week and Staff Banquet- Support the Dean of Campus Life with, and participate in, the recruitment and selection of residence life student staff- Participate in a 24/7 “on call” emergency response/crisis intervention team - Serve as a case administrator and adjudicate cases as assigned by the Office of Student Accountability- Serve on the University\'s Behavioral Intervention Team and assist in the counseling of students
