ABOUT AMANDA GASTEL
As a Dean of Students with an initial licensure in school counseling and a background in bilingual education, I am passionate about helping students build resilience, develop independence, and thrive as self-advocates capable of overcoming challenges and achieving lifelong success. My work with diverse student populations across cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds has refined my ability to provide culturally responsive support and foster meaningful relationships with students of all ages. In my current role as Dean, I have expanded on these strengths by observing and mentoring teachers in the development of effective classroom management. I implement the Collaborative Problem Solving approach to address challenging behaviors and design targeted interventions that support students’ social-emotional learning. Additionally, I foster strong collaboration among parents, faculty, and support staff, while managing high-needs student cases, overseeing support plans, and serving as a critical link between families, the school, and external providers.
