About Amanda Dubois-Mwake

Dr. Amanda Dubois-Mwake is the Executive Director/CEO of Future 5. Amanda spent 15 years at Lehman College, CUNY where she served in multiple roles, most recently as the Director of International Programs and Community Engagement (IPCE), and still serves as an adjunct instructor in the Master\'s in Organizational Leadership program. Amanda was a low-income first-gen student herself, and has built a reputation for empowering students to turn setbacks caused by circumstance into opportunities for growth and resilience.Dubois-Mwake has developed partnerships with local and global nonprofits to support communities in achieving their mission and vision, while matching student volunteers to their field of interest. She has overseen programs including College Access and Persistence, Study Abroad, International Student Services, and the Bronx Recovery Corps. She traveled across the world with students to bridge global service and the academic experience in partnership with faculty and grassroots leaders through the Lehman LIFE (Leaders Involved For Everyone) Alternative Break program, often leading students to careers in global service. Amanda created the local service-learning program at Lehman and started the first ever Peace Corps Prep program at a college in New York City. Amanda delivers workshops on global citizenship and service across the US and has taught a number of globally focused courses at Lehman College and abroad. Amanda’s involvement with global education programs is complemented by what she has learned as a board member of Crossing Thresholds, a nonprofit supporting some of Kenya’s most vulnerable children through education. She has raised funds for Future 5, Crossing Thresholds, Lehman College, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Urban Male Leadership Program. Through her experience as the mentorship coordinator and a mentor for the Urban Male Leadership Program at Lehman, she was responsible for recruiting mentors and believes strongly in the impact a mentor can have on the life a student. Amanda holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Bridgewater State University in Social Work and Theatre, and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration from New York University. She received her Ph.D. in Global Leadership & Higher Education from Indiana Tech. Amanda has often been known to combine her experiences in social work, theater and education to create impactful programs, fundraisers and an environment where students can feel safe, welcomed and supported. Amanda lives in Stamford, CT with her husband and two young children.
