About Amanda Shaw
My passion for nursing fuels my drive for continued growth and knowledge in psychiatric nursing. I have an affinity for science and actively review evidence-based research to inform my nursing practice. Building on a solid academic foundation, I am expanding my knowledge and practice of holistic medicine within the scope of nursing. With over 10 years of experience in psychiatry, I have specialized in child and adolescent psychiatric nursing. In the clinical setting, I have incorporated mindful movement (also known as yoga therapy) and meditation as part of inpatient programming with the patients entrusted to my care.Now, with an emphasis on adult, child, and adolescent psychiatry in the outpatient setting, I enjoy seeing my role extend beyond the technical aspects of nursing. My philosophy of nursing practice is built around the central paradigm of healing. I believe a nurse can be a facilitator of healing, and I strive to embody that role in my practice and in every interaction with the patients I serve.
