About Amanda Shafer Berman

I represent clients in high-profile environmental, administrative, and other litigation. I have argued before most of the Courts of Appeals; notable cases include the D.C. Circuit challenges to the Obama Administration\'s \"Clean Power Plan\" and EPA\'s initial regulation of greenhouse gas emissions. While I have particular expertise in environmental law, including climate regulation, I\'ve handled appeals in a broad array of cases, addressing issues ranging from trademark infringement to torts. I also litigate challenges to agency action in the district courts and Court of International Trade. In addition to appellate, administrative, and environmental law, I also have expertise in international law, which I taught for six years at Howard Law School. Early in my career, I was an litigation associate at Shearman & Sterling, where I worked on several Supreme Court and appellate cases, as well as district court and arbitration matters. I also served as a volunteer attorney in the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
