Danbury, CT, US

Recruited to serve as the first Director of Public Grants for Nuvance Health, a not-for-profit health system operating across western Connecticut and New York State’s Mid-Hudson Valley region. Acting in this role, I have been charged with growing Nuvance Health’s federal, state, and research grant portfolio; building the network’s first comprehensive grants and contracts office; and creating a grants infrastructure that supports large-scale innovations in health, medicine, and research. As a result of my efforts, I was promoted to Senior Director for the Office of Grants Administration in 2022.Accomplishments (To Date): • Completed an audit of all active public funding with the goal of closing out inactive/expired contracts. Identified $4.4M in lapsed contracts and initiated reimbursement back to the network;• Increased public funding requests from $5.9M in FY21 to more than $31M in FY23; • Secured $18.45M in public grants in FY23, compared to $1.45M in FY21 (a 1,172% increase);• Ensured all hospitals were registered and current in the federal System for Award Management;• Brought all New York State hospitals online in the New York State Grants Gateway to create access to State funding; • Worked with Nuvance Health Finance, Legal, and other administrative units to develop policies and SOPs for public funding that address internal controls and reduce audit risk across the network;• Assumed responsibility for private grants, consolidating both public and private funding under a newly developed Office of Grants Administration; • Assumed submission and post-award responsibility of public funds secured by the Office of Community Government & Public Relations, to include Congressionally-directed spending (earmarks) and Senate budget appropriations;• Consolidated and centralized public funding across the network, in lieu of a formerly decentralized process managed by individual hospitals.
