ABOUT AMANDA MCMILLEN
As the Executive Director of the Alive Center, I lead a vibrant nonprofit dedicated to empowering and inspiring youth to discover their passions and reach their full potential. I oversee programs that provide teens with a safe, inclusive space to explore their interests, develop leadership skills, and build meaningful connections. With a focus on fostering equity, creativity, and community, I work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and partners to expand our impact and ensure every young person has the support they need to thrive. Through this role, I am committed to creating opportunities that ignite confidence and hope in the next generation. As the Chief Program Officer at SGA Youth & Family Services, I oversaw the delivery of over 40 programs that support children, youth, and families from prenatal to 24 years, across Chicago, Cook County, and Lake County areas. At SGA, I work with a dedicated team of 300+ staff and a budget of over $13 million annually, to ensure that everyone has the support and resources to reach their fullest potential. Before working at SGA, I had the fortune to be the Chief Program Officer for the Illinois Collaboration on Youth (ICOY). In this capacity, I led statewide efforts to support and strengthen organizations serving children, youth, and families. I oversaw program development and implementation, ensuring alignment with best practices and the unique needs of communities. By fostering collaboration and advocating for systemic change, I worked to expand access to resources, advance equity, and empower youth-serving agencies to create lasting, positive impact. My core competencies include strategy, program development, project management, budget creation and management, data analysis, and staff supervision. I have led and contributed to various initiatives that enhanced the quality and impact of services, such as trauma-informed care, restorative justice, positive youth development, and race equity. I have also been involved in strategic planning, performance improvement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at the organizational level.
