ABOUT AMANDA KING
My new job role with Angelica Interiors, Kitchens and Gardens is to refurbish a Victorian property into an artistic, luxurious and comfortable Air B and B in Bristol, close to the Harbourside and the City Centre. The house is close to the new trendy Harbourside development, the Docks, The Arnolfini Gallery, Spike Island Contemporary Art Space, the Watershed Cinema, The Old Vic Theatre, the famous Thekla and Louisiana music venues. Also near to Bristol airport and Temple Meads and Bedminster train station with good train links to London, Bath, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall and a direct train to Penzance! So much to do in walking distance of the house for a fun and inspiring holiday or work trip. Many bars, bakeries, independent and ethical shops and restaurants that Bristol is so famous for. I am also an artist and have a painting studio. I am a member of Spike Print Studio at nearby Spike Island Contemporary Art Space, Bristol where I work a few days a week in the etching studio, making etchings, aquatints, drypoints, mono prints and photopolymer gravure. I also print woodcuts on their Albion Press. I am planning to handprint some books and refresh my screenprinting skills. I have an exhibition space in my house The Print Room in Bristol. I collect prints, emphemera, old postcards and photographs, super 8 films and books. I am researching traditional and contemporary printmaking, photography, film and video stills and moving images and taking these images further into print.
