ABOUT AMANDA GULLEY

I’m driven by “significance”—work that actually makes a difference. My superpower is turning ambiguous, complex problems into clarity through a human-centered lens. I’m also a storyteller by nature—able to connect ideas, data, and people in ways that create shared understanding and momentum. I’m a natural collaborator who knows when to break down silos, because real impact rarely happens in isolation.Early in my career, I was told I couldn’t be both a designer and a data analyst. I decided to become both—and then some. I’ve worn many hats over the years: designer, researcher, analyst, product manager, technologist—whatever the work required to build the right thing, measure it honestly, and communicate results clearly.Today, I lead eight multidisciplinary product, UX, design, and technology teams at ASU, all focused on creating better experiences for students, staff, and faculty. My teams collaborate with partners globally like Dreamscape Learn, Starbucks, Uber, Google, the U.S. Air Force, the Army, will.i.am, Superhuman, and work that spans to other countries like our work in Africa through the Mastercard Foundation. Our work has been recognized by:1⃣ Nielsen Norman Group2⃣Leading Women in AI in EDU (2024, 2025)3⃣Top 50 Women Leaders of Phoenix (2024)4⃣the Phoenix Copper Anvil Awards (2025)5⃣ building one of the first university-created design systems in higher educationAt the core of it all is a simple belief: a better, longer life is rooted in learning—and that’s something I aim to live, not just build.
