Management of the city’s Engineering Department by planning fiscal budgets and approve all funding and pay applications that the department requires.Create request for proposals (RFP’s) or requests for qualifications (RFQ’s) for various city projects.Coordinate with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) on all major infrastructure projects that are on city property.Approve plats and construction documents that included the right-of-way new construction (roadways, sidewalks, drainage).Create yearly overlay projects and ensuring the approved yearly budget is not surpassed.Coordinate with the Jackson Energy Authority on all projects that include their infrastructure and coordinated the city’s street lighting applications and maintenance.Attends site visits to construction projects ensuring process and procedure are being followed according to city code.Reviews speed and transportation studies to identify areas that may require extra traffic control devices or a change in the geometry of the road to raise the transportation level of service.Coordinate with the planning and the public works department on all new construction, providing guidance on DOT standards, along with approving new signage using the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards.Sit on the technical and formal board for the Jackson Area Metropolitan Planning Commission, that coordinates projects through TDOT with federal funding, along with a funding match provided by the city.Review and approve all road closures throughout the city and ensuring the public is aware of the road closure to not further cause traffic congestion.
