I am a Research and Lab Management Intern at the Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute. This co-op is part of a Biotechnology certificate program I am pursuing at the Gloucester Biotechnology Academy. I got my B.S. in Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island in 2024, with minors in Marine Biology and Sustainability. I am an experienced professional with a strong background in animal husbandry and a passion for marine conservation. Aspiring to contribute to the discovery, development, and production of state-of-the-art medical advancements derived from natural ecosystems.

   Organize fish fin clip inventory and extract DNA from 250+ fin and otolith (fish ear stone) samples- Develop a targeted sequencing protocol (e.g, multiplex PCR) for fish and squid tissue- Participate in computational training to see the backend of the epigenetic ageing workflow- Sub-sample lobster tissue to support population genomics projects- DNA extraction and isolation- Assist with chemical safety, biosafety, and regulatory compliance activities- Support ordering, inventory tracking, and organization of laboratory supplies- Assist with scientific instrument calibration, maintenance, and documentation- Support marine animal care activities, including feeding and basic husbandry tasks- Assist with routine facility and tank maintenance as directed- Help maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
