The POP Shop\'s mission is to design heritage inspired solutions to climate change that bring health and wealth to the community. The POP shop is managed by a Community Interest Company (or CIC), called POP shop enterprises CIC, of which I am a Director. The shop and company were established in 2022 in response to locally focused Action Research that explored the lived experience of people working from home and around care responsibilities, whilst setting up and running small and social enterprises in Dunoon and wider Cowal.

ABOUT AMANDA FORSTER
I’m developing consultancy projects dedicated to creating sustainable and inclusive heritage, working collaboratively with individual partners, researchers and organisations. As an active researcher and consultant, I lead projects that celebrate people and places, ensuring heritage remains accessible, impactful, and future-focused.With 20 years of experience spanning archaeology and heritage, I’ve worked across policy, research, education, not-for-profit, and commercial sectors. My leadership roles have included strategic development, programme management, and fostering collaboration through sector-wide consultation and stakeholder engagement. My current portfolio is a mix of heritage consultancy work and place-based, community centred enterprise through The POP Shop, Dunoon. Since completing my PhD in 2004, my career has blended academic and practical expertise. At Birmingham Archaeology, I led post-excavation projects and developed the Practical Archaeology MA, igniting my passion for advancing professionalism in the sector. This inspired a strategic role at the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA), focusing on membership engagement and archaeology’s societal relevance. From 2016 to 2024, I worked with the dynamic team at DigVentures, progressing from Programme Manager to Chief Operating Officer, supporting delivery of groundbreaking and impactful community-driven projects. Currently, I\'m balancing policy and research driven heritage consultancy with business development within my home town of Dunoon, Argyll and Bute.
