About Amanda Fields

I started my professional experience at the Thurston County Chamber in 1993 as a part time Receptionist & worked my way to Office Manager. At the age of 19, I started my 20-year run at the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW). I began as Receptionist and worked my way up to Education/Membership Assistant, working closely with the 14 local associations across WA. I learned the importance of being a member, membership drives, committees & planning events. I then accepted the Education Director position, where I thrived at educating the best building industry professionals around WA. I contributed to build the National Award-winning Membership & Education Programs. Partnered with the Department of Ecology to build the Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) & CESCL Recertification courses. I worked with the DOL to ensure the BIAW Real Estate School met all requirements for continuing education classes & instructors. I administered the BuiltGreen(R) WA Program & enjoyed learning about the importance of green building. I helped to recruit & approve, instructors for those courses including Forklift, Confined Space, Excavation, EPA Lead Renovator, OSHA-10, etc. Through the event planning, I was educated on hotel contracts, BEO’s. I have worked with beautiful facilities, where we held our Board Meetings. I was responsible for every detail of every meeting. Planning our Excellence in Remodeling Awards, & the elite themed SPIKE Parties. Learning more about nonprofit organizations, education & membership, educating the best industry professionals around WA State. I administered the BIAW Scholarship Program & enjoyed helping students plan to be a builder in our state. In 2018, I moved to the Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs (WACOPS), helping Executive Director. Together we filled the office with positive professionals who help grow the mission of WACOPS. I enjoyed planning board meetings & special events. I learned to update the website & develop push notifications. I assisted with the Officer of the Year Awards & the WACOPS Scholarship.I then became the Project Coordinator at the Thurston Chamber. I helped plan monthly & annual events & working in training & outreach. I planned & executed Free Const. training in the PacMtn. region for underrepresented community members & working with local const. companies to hire them at living wages. I am now at my dream job of being the Executive Director at the Roofing Contractors Association of Washington. I enjoy working with contractors to help them succeed and thrive.
