ABOUT AMANDA ELYSE
I teach legal writing and lawyering skills, movement lawyering, and animal law courses at Seattle University School of Law. My scholarship and other projects center around providing a critical lens on animal testing issues, with particular attention to intersections with other social justice issues and the government and corporate repression of advocacy for animals, informed by my background in the grassroots animal protection movement. My work to end the use of animals in experiments has spanned grassroots, nonprofit, and academic spaces. In my role as a law professor, I work to provide my students with a supportive, student-centered experience in which they can thrive in learning lawyering skills, being their whole selves and developing classroom community, and becoming passionate advocates for both individual clients and social justice causes. My current course load includes Legal Writing II: Written and Oral Advocacy; Animal Law and Advocacy; and Lawyers, Media, and Social Change.
