ABOUT AMANDA BLANC

Amanda Blanc DBE is the Group CEO of Aviva plc, the leading FTSE100 Insurance, Wealth and Retirement business. Aviva has 25 million customers across the UK, Ireland and Canada, £419 billion of assets under management and people.Amanda has held a wide ranging portfolio across a variety of board positions. She has chaired many organisations and committees; sat on various regulated boards across Europe, co-chaired HM Treasury\'s Transition Plan Taskforce and was a Business Council adviser for two Prime Minsters.In addition to being the Senior Independent Director at BP plc and HMG\'s Women in Finance Champion, she is a former Chair of the Association of British Insurers, a past President of the Chartered Insurance Institute, a prior member of the UK Takeover Panel and a former Chair of the Insurance Fraud Bureau.Amanda\'s appointments have included Chair of the Professional Rugby Board and board member at the Welsh Rugby Union, Non Exec Director at Aviva plc, various advisory roles for New York based Aquiline Capital Partners and Chair at Lloyd\'s of London syndicate ERS.Amanda was previously CEO of Zurich Insurance Group, EMEA & Global Banking comprising of 14 countries and 33 million customers. She was also Chair of Zurich Insurance plc, one of five ultra high risk companies registered in Ireland and was the most senior woman within the Zurich Group.Amanda joined Zurich from AXA where she was Group CEO of AXA UK, & Ireland, transforming the loss making entity and taking it to a number two market position. Key to this was the delivery of a sustained period of organic growth and the disposal of non core assets.She moved to AXA from the distribution consolidator Towergate Insurance Brokers where she was Deputy Group CEO, responsible for over 60 acquisitions and their subsequent integration. She has also held executive roles at Groupama, EY and Commercial Union.In 2020 she was asked by the government to conduct an investigation into the floods affecting South Yorkshire; the Blanc Review was published with 12 recommendations for consideration.Amanda is known for her charismatic leadership and was named Woman of Achievement by Women in the City, twice been voted the UK Insurer CEO’s CEO and featured on the Forbes list of the World\'s 100 Most Powerful Women and Fortune\'s 100 Most Powerful Women in Business. She holds Honorary Doctorates from The University of Liverpool and Buckinghamshire New University and was recognised as the 2022 Sunday Times Business Person of the Year.Amanda was awarded a Damehood in the 2024 New Year Honours List.
