ABOUT AMANDA BAKER
Growing up, I enjoyed reading and writing - mostly creative writing - above all else. When I began college at The Ohio State University, I knew I wanted to continue to nurture my love of the written and spoken word. I graduated from OSU with a double major from the Honors program in both English and Spanish. Law school was, for me, the logical next step in order to further hone my reading, analysis, and persuasive writing skills. While attending Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University, I put my love of writing and editing to good use as the Note Editor of the Ohio State Law Journal. Upon graduation I started practicing law full time. I began doing trusts and estate work, but soon realized my favorite matters were the trust litigation matters I worked on, mostly because of the creative and persuasive writing involved in litigation. From there I was drawn to bankruptcy and restructuring work, which allowed me to work on complex matters and hone my litigation skills while also exposing me to a variety of industries and legal topics. Being attracted most to the litigation aspect of my matters, I easily transitioned into complex commercial litigation and now primarily focus in the title insurance and real property litigation area, representing national title insurance companies (including a Fortune 500 title insurance company) and their insureds in California and Nevada. I enjoy the variety of matters I get to work on. I also especially love the unique industry of title insurance and the creative problem-solving, as well as interesting litigation, it allows me. I am always looking for opportunities to expand my litigation skill set and learn new areas of the law.In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my two kids, hiking, biking, reading, playing word games, taking care of my various pets (cats, a bearded dragon, and an aquarium), running, yoga, and traveling. I hope to see as many parts of this country and of the world as I can - so far, I have been to 35 states and 19 countries, with plans to visit more!
