Ensure that all components produced in the press shop meet quality standards and customer specifications through real-time monitoring, inspection, and continuous improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities:In-Process Quality Control:Inspect components from mechanical presses (manual/automated lines).Perform First Piece, In-Process, and Last Piece inspection.Monitor forming issues: cracks, splits, wrinkles, oil marks, and spring back.Verify control plans, drawings, and SPC parameters.Use of Measuring Instruments:Operate instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, and profile projectors.Interpret engineering drawings and GD & T.Quality Improvement:Participate in Kaizen, 5S, and Lean initiatives.Support SPC (Statistical Process Control) and capability studies (Cp, Cpk).SSW Quality :Conduct inspections for spot weld quality – nugget size, weld location, splash/spatter, and penetration.Monitor seam welding parameters for consistency, overlap, and visual finish.Validate weld schedules, tip dressing, and electrode life tracking.Carry out weld destructive tests (peel, chisel, and nugget test) and document results.Documentation & Reporting:Maintain quality records: inspection reports, control plans, PFMEAs, and check sheets.Prepare daily quality performance summaries.Support documentation for IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer audits.Root Cause Analysis & CAPA:Handle process non-conformities, raise NCRs, and drive 8D problem-solving.Lead root cause analysis for internal and customer complaints.Quality Tools & Measurement:Use measuring instruments:Vernier, micrometer, weld gauge, profile projector, etc.Key Performance Indicators-Rejection rate (internal/external)Weld failure rate / Destructive test pass %CAPA response & closure timeAudit score (LPA, Product & Process Audit)First Pass Yield (FPY)Common Tools & Techniques:4MControl Charts (X̄ & R,P-charts)PPAP, APQP knowledgeGage Repeatability and Reproducibility
