ABOUT AMAL SHAH
With over a decade of experience in researching banks across the buy-side, sell-side, and central bank, I bring a diverse perspective in my work. In my most recent role, I will be providing insights on the banking sector. Prior to that, I worked on the buy-side where I led the coverage of Financials in a global-long-only capacity. Within Financials, I developed a process for investing in banks using a behavioural psychology framework. I further have extensive experience of integrating ESG risk into the investment process.Throughout my career, I have dedicated a significant amount of time to analysing Financials from multiple angles. Post the 2008-09 financial crisis, I worked at the Bank of England to stress test the UK banking system, which directly informed capital requirements for the banking sector. In my subsequent sell-side role, I focused on analysing banks from an equities perspective and led the coverage of the six largest Nordic banks. My research stood out due to my ability to identify insightful trends and publish engaging content, leading to a number of my notes ranking in the top 5 most-read notes by clients. Thanks to these experiences, I have developed a reputation for producing differentiated research, collaborating effectively with colleagues, and communicating complex issues in straightforward language. I constantly seek out opportunities to expand my knowledge and build upon my diverse experiences by applying them to a wide range of settings. In my spare time, I practise meditation and enjoy reading books about personal development and human behaviour.
