ABOUT AMAIYA BROWN

I am Amaiya Brown, a 4th-year Health Informatics and Information Management scholar.I aspire to pursue a career in Medical Coding and Data Analytics and, one day, manage a healthcare facility. In Data Analytics, I will not only be responsible for managing patient information but will also help analyze treatment and health records, conduct disease-prevention research, and improve the public’s overall health. Like any hospital or healthcare system, they need a strong foundation, which, for the most part, is their staff; these are the people who take care of patients, protect their personal information, and keep them informed about how they can improve their health. Once I start my career, I aspire to be the type of healthcare professional I am now; I will do my best to ensure that all patients receive the care they deserve. In the summer of 2025, I participated in the Research Experience for Undergraduates program at FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. My summer project was titled “Aiding Decision-Making for Behavioral and Mental Health Crisis Response.” The goal of the project was to develop an app that police chiefs and mayors could use to dispatch accurate crisis response vehicles and achieve shorter response times. I focused on creating a workflow of the crisis decision-support tool that generated the app. To achieve this, I edited the job code in the app, based on case studies from police departments across the United States. These case studies consisted of crisis dispatch data, including the location, response time, the person who assisted on the call, and the type of call.
