ABOUT AMAAN NAIK

As a Graduate Research Intern at the University of Arizona, I am passionate about advancing the field of molecular biology and developing innovative solutions for biomedical challenges. I have expertise in droplet digital PCR (ddPCR), a cutting-edge technology that enables precise and sensitive quantification of nucleic acids.In the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to apply my skills and knowledge as a Downstream Processing Intern at Novartis Gene Therapies, one of the leading companies in the gene therapy space. I worked on optimizing and scaling up the purification process of viral vectors, which are essential for delivering therapeutic genes to target cells. I contributed to the design and execution of multiple experiments, using techniques such as TFF and column chromatography, and analyzed the results using various analytical methods.Additionally, I am a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Intro to Molecular Biology course, where I assist the instructor with preparing and delivering lectures, grading assignments, and providing feedback and guidance to students. I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm and curiosity for molecular biology with the next generation of scientists and learners.Through my education and work experience, I have developed core competencies in molecular biology, biotechnology, gene therapy, downstream processing, and data analysis. I am motivated by the potential of gene therapy to transform the lives of patients with rare and incurable diseases, and I aspire to pursue a career in this exciting and dynamic field.
