ABOUT AL ZWIERS

As a leader in healthcare and well-being, I bring a therapeutic and intersectional lens to the provision of services supporting and promoting the well-being of a diverse population. I strive to ensure that everyone feels accepted, validated and celebrated in the journey of building individual and team resiliencies and navigating change and conflict. I help people move forward together as they adapt to evolving needs and approaches in a trauma-informed manner. I incorporate new technologies into clinical practice and enjoy the process of bringing together tech and people to meet the emerging needs of our communities.I offer a few decades of experience as a person-centered therapist with individuals, couples and families, as well as years in group facilitation, community development and adult education. Grounded in the principles of structural social work, health promotion & harm reduction and community-based wellness, I strive to make my practice ethical and accessible by providing evidence-based counselling with an intersectional equity-informed perspective and a lens of Indigenous cultural safety and humility.I acknowledge my role as an uninvited white queer cisgender settler of Welsh and Dutch background on the unceded and ancestral territories of the Coast and Fraser Salish people.
