About Alyssa Cordts

As a driven undergraduate Biology major at San Diego State University, I am deeply passionate about the field of medicine and its role in advancing patient care through innovation and prevention. My strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills guide the way I approach challenges and I strive to make a meaningful impact in healthcare!Outside the classroom, I actively engage in leadership, service, and academic enrichment. As Secretary and being part of the founding executive board member of Chi Omega at SDSU, as well as being secretary for the College of Sciences Student Council, I have honed my organizational, public speaking, and problem-solving skills while working alongside other driven and like-minded students. My roles have strengthened my time management and administrative abilities, which are skills essential in any medical or research environment.As a member of Weber Honors College, I am pursuing a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies, an academic path that has sharpened my critical thinking and deepened my understanding of complex societal issues through open dialogue. This experience also builds on my experiential learning, including study abroad and leadership requirements.Through volunteering at the Wesley House Food Pantry on campus, I’ve developed a deeper awareness of the importance of accessible resources, especially food and nutrition for student success. This experience has reinforced my belief in the power of inclusive spaces where students feel supported not just academically, but emotionally and materially.I am eager to continue exploring opportunities that combine my scientific interests with my commitment to service and leadership, especially as I work toward a future in the medical field.
