The Goldman Lab in URMC’s center for translational neuromedicine that tests cell therapy to treat glial disorders. As a Discover Grant recipient, I dedicated my summer 2023 to the Goldman lab which uses the engraftment of human progenitor cells (HPCs) into the immunocompromised mouse based on the chimeric mouse model. Stem cells are injected into the mouse brain for the engraftment. Immunohistochemistry is utilized to gauge how many healthy cells were implanted from the engraftment. The perfusion of mice and brain dissection is conducted to obtain the tissue that is analyzed. Stereological cell counting is used for quantitative analysis.
