ABOUT ALYSSA SHAIA

I am currently a senior at Butler University’s School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, pursuing a major in Political Science. From the beginning of my academic career at Butler, I have prioritized engagement in campus activities and a commitment to leadership.I have had the privilege of serving as a Student Orientation Guide, where I mentored and guided the incoming freshman class with leadership and kindness. This program not only allowed me to showcase my leadership skills but also enabled me to represent my university at a high level. Additionally, I took on a volunteer role as a College Mentor for Kids, a program designed to introduce young children to the opportunities and benefits of college life while providing them with a direct partner to navigate the process. This lead me to pursue even more impactful organizations on campus like Butler\'s Student Government Association and the Student Honors Council. Holding an executive position in both of these organizations, I was able to harness my leadership skills while working to serve the students on Butler\'s campus. Collaboration with a team and event planning also helped me to learn more about myself and gain experience in meaningful projects. My pursuit of meaningful relationships led me to join the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, where I have the honor of serving as the Apparel Coordinator for our chapter. This role has provided me with valuable skills, including budget management, negotiation with vendors, and the creative design process for our chapter\'s apparel.During my time away from Butler, I have continued to seek professional opportunities, interning at Yahne Law, LLC for two summers and Maginot, Moore & Beck, LLP during my junior and senior years. Through these internships, I have acquired important skills aligned with my goal of becoming an attorney. I have attended closing meetings and observed the presentation of new policies by the Indiana Bar Association. I have also begun to learn how to prepare and organize legal documents, especially in intellectual property law.Through my diverse experiences in both the professional realm and student organizations, I have strengthened my public speaking skills, professional writing abilities, content creation, community engagement, and, above all, leadership. I am eager to apply these skills to my future internships and career.
