ABOUT ALYSSA MCCULLOCH

Passionate about sport ethics, sport policy, sport development, and event management. Growing up I was always very involved in running school events and spending all my spare time at our local gymnastics club either doing gymnastics, coaching or helping with tournaments. I have been able to take both of these interests and pursue education in sports management taking a keen interest in safe sport and sports development and working for a corporate event agency throughout my undergrad and master\'s degree (both as a full time and part-time employee)Various research positions that I have held assisted in shaping my interest in sport. I am currently assisting with an interesting research study exploring the impact COVID-19 has had on Team Canada athletes while completing my thesis on body dissatisfaction and disordered eating among team Canada athletes, examining the resources available to these athletes. In addition, I have worked on a sports review project for U Sports with McLaren Global Sport Solutions, assisted with a study exploring students\' barriers to accessing on-campus recreation facilities at the University of Waterloo, and completed an undergraduate thesis studying attitudes toward performance-enhancing substances.I have also gained vast event management experience working on international events through TK Events Inc. for organizations such as Dell Technologies, Facebook, Salesforce, Softchoice, and Desire 2 Learn. While working in the event industry I have assisted with events from attendees and I have been able to gain experience working with live and virtual events, performing tasks such as managing data, web design (using Aventri, Swoogo, and Cvent), travel management, managing hotel room blocks, badge and lanyard design, on-site registration experience, venue sourcing, vendor sourcing, and planning creative activations.When I’m not working, you’ll find me enjoying the outdoors, travelling, hiking, snowboarding, and running.
