ABOUT ALYSSA MARTIN

I enjoy connecting with people and connecting people with each other. Building relationships, finding links and supporting personal and professional growth has been a common thread throughout my career and one I’m so pleased to have found in each role I’ve held. From launching my career with the Smithsonian Institution at Smithsonian Journeys encouraging Americans to connect with other people, cultures and history across the world, to shaping the global alumni engagement strategy at the University of Westminster, I am constantly looking for ways to enhance engagement opportunities and exploration.I have been able to continue doing what I love through launching and managing the Westminster Working Cultures programme at the University of Westminster, supporting undergraduate students achieve and develop the skills they’ll need following graduation through visiting a range of global destinations. Since the programme launch in 2017: Over 1200 students have had a unique employability experience either in the UK or internationally 23 international trips and 12 UK programmes have been planned by myself and my team, connecting our students with local graduates and partners who volunteer to share their professional experience. Following the initial success of the programme, I have grown the programme to support even more students with a life-changing professional development experience. This includes securing and managing over £2.5 million in funding and creating a team to run the expanded programme.
