ABOUT ALYSSA GARNER
As an ICU nurse at Parkland Health, I encounter a diverse array of patients, from homeless to inmates, to immigrants and all economic classes. Learning how to care for each person with their unique set of needs is such an important skill in the hospital, and I am so grateful to have experience with so many types of people. The ICU is dynamic, challenges me to think on my feet, and pushes me to always give 110%. Our patients are very high acuity, and require highly skilled, efficient, and compassionate nurses. The teamwork required on my unit is unlike any other. Nursing isn\'t a job you can do alone, and I am so thankful to be in an environment where teamwork and supporting one another is the culture. I plan to continue in nursing, and my immediate goal is to get my Critical Care Registered Nurse certification (CCRN).
