ABOUT ALYSIA KWIATKOWSKI
I am an Assistant Dean for Medical Education and the Phase 2 Director at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo. In this role, I oversee the clinical curriculum. Additionally, I work as an Educator Development Specialist at the Medical Education and Educational Research Institute (MEERI), focusing on faculty and learner development, interactive learning models, clinical assessment, and medical education research.As the former Program Director for the Internal Medicine Training Program at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB), I redesigned and transitioned the curriculum to interactive, multifaceted, near-peer, and learner-centered models, incorporating innovative programming. I teach several courses and advise many students in undergraduate medical education.I have completed the Harvard Macy Institute’s Leading Innovation in Healthcare and Education, the Jacobs Excellence Educator Program, an additional Teaching Excellence Program, and the SUNY SAIL Leadership Academy. I am a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and have received multiple teaching awards, including the Jacobs School’s Faculty Award of Excellence for Promoting Inclusion and Cultural Diversity.I earned my doctorate from the New York Institute of Technology, College of Osteopathic Medicine. I completed my residency and chief residency at Albany Medical Center and my fellowship in Rheumatology at Rush University Medical Center. I also hold a Master of Science in the Natural Sciences from the University at Buffalo/Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and a Masters in Educational Studies from UB’s Graduate School of Education. As a practicing rheumatologist, I have been repeatedly selected as a Top Doctor by the Buffalo Spree, and practice clinically at Erie County Medical Center caring for an underserved patient population.
