Alvin’s continuous and sustained technical leadership over a decade has enabled IBM Microelectronics’ specialty foundry business to dominate the marketplace with semiconductor products for wireless communications. His deep client collaboration and market insight has allowed IBM to offer revolutionary best-in-class semiconductor technologies for radio frequency (RF) front-end-modules (FEM) used in wireless communications systems such as cell phones, tablets, and wireless networks.Alvin was the chief technologist and the lead client facing engineer for development of the two noteworthy RF front-end-module technologies - silicon germanium power amplifiers and silicon-on-Insulator RF switches. These technologies have transformed the FEM construction from complex materials to more industry standard silicon based chips. Using these technologies IBM has shipped over 10 billion chips for use by all major mobile phone providers worldwide.
