About Emidio Alvarez Vallecillo
I have grown up around construction since I was a teen. At 14 years of age I was already on construction sites. My father came to this country with a dream during a civil war in El Salvador and that was to give my family a better future. In order for that to happen he started working as a Drywall Finisher. He started to take me onto sites and I was instantly hooked on the concept of a project going from nothing to the final punch list. As I continued my studies I noticed that IUPUI had a Construction Management degree and it was a perfect fit. As my career in college went I was able to get the position of Vice President of the Society of Student Constructors. I also went ahead and became a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. The summer of my junior year I had an internship with Taylor Bros. Construction and was able to see how the classroom translated to on-site.
