About Alok Kumar
Alok Kumar currently leads Renewables Sales for the Asia Pacific region, encompassing markets in Australia & New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, and India. In this role, he formulates and implements strategies to pioneer new markets and adopt advanced technologies. He spearheads major projects, ensuring alignment with DNV’s strategic growth objectives, and serves as the Segment Lead for Green Hydrogen initiatives in South Asia, driving innovation and market penetration.Previously (20••••22), as Director and Country Manager for South Asia, Alok was responsible for DNV’s Energy Business in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and the Maldives. He successfully established departments for Asset Operations & Management, Technology & Innovation, Measurement & Field Testing, Global Operations & Analytics Centre (GOAC 24X7 asset management), and Power Grid. Alok built and managed a highly skilled technical team of over 70 members, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. He ensured the technical delivery of projects within the power sector, covering onshore wind, offshore wind, ground-mounted solar, rooftop solar, floating solar, hydropower, transmission & distribution, and energy storage.Alok has been a member of various committees, including the PMG Group for the FOWIND Project (an EU-funded offshore wind project), the committee constituted by NIWE for the preparation and finalization of Environmental Impact Assessment Guidelines for Offshore Wind Farm development, and the working group for deliberating various IEC standards for adoption by BIS.With over 19 years of experience in the renewable sector, Alok holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace from IIT Kharagpur and a Master’s degree in Aerodynamics from IIT Kanpur. He has completed executive education programs on ‘Digital Business Models’ from the University of California, Berkeley, and ‘Leading Digital Transformation Programs’ from INSEAD Business School. Additionally, he holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management.
