ABOUT ALMA CHEN

Knowing that the world is much bigger than my perceptions and the things yet to be learned are endless, I hold a modest attitude towards my environment and an immense curiosity for the unknown. I believe that most questions in life have not only one answer, it’s just a matter of perspective to go about one way or another. Therefore, I have an open mind to learn and try, as life is composed of countless trials and errors.My life experiment takes place currently at the University of California Berkeley as an undergraduate student studying economics and psychology. I am currently evolving in Develop Solutions Organization(DSO) and Enactus at Berkeley, which both focus on international development related issues. The former allows me to consult directly with international nonprofits regarding any issues they may face; while the latter connects me with worldwide leaders on entrepreneurial-based projects that power people to make sustainable changes. In addition, I am part of Education Practitioners and Innovators(EPIC) that empowers future leaders of education through the latest innovations and concepts. We organized a Silicon EdTech Summit with 25 experts from the field of character education, Edtech, emerging technologies, and global education investment. As the world rapidly changes, innovative approaches to education through technologies and experimental methods hold the future and I believe it’s one of the most direct ways that one could impact the future. In my journey to complete my education at UC Berkeley, I hope to continue my exploration of the world and conduct a deeper investigation of myself as a world citizen. As of after college, I have not yet formulated a concrete plan that I must follow. I believe that through the continuation of my trial and error process, my path will become clearer. However, I do intend to continue pursuing further academic knowledge through MBA or graduate school sometime in the future.
