In 2020, during lockdown, I worked as a diver on the salvage operation of a cargo ship called the MV Kami which ran aground North of the Isle of Skye in Scotland carrying Tonnes of waste plastic. Diving in waste plastic was the inspiration for starting Ocean Plastic Pots. I pioneered the concept of manufacturing plant pots from recycled Polypropylene and HDPE reclaimed from rope and fishing net. I set up collection programs at Scottish ports and started working alongside beach cleaning groups to recycle the rope and net collected during beach cleans in Scotland. To date, Ocean Plastic Pots has collected and recycled over 20 Tonnes of rope and fishing which has been recycled in the UK and injection moulded in Scotland into into Ocean Plastic Pots. Our products are stocked around the world, including over 150 UK stores in the UK. I have also custom-designed and manufactured Injection moulded products for clients including Bloom & Wild and Waitrose from 100% Ocean Plastic. Ocean Plastic Pots was recognised by the consumer magazine Which as a \"Which Recommended\" in the category of plant pots after an 18 month study. Awards:Product of the Year at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2021,(runner-up in 2022)Product of the Year at Scotland’s Trade Show in 2024 (runner up in 2025) Winner of Scottish Edge Round 17. Ocean Plastic Pots was featured by The V&A ( Scotland’s Design Museum) in their 2023 exhibition “Plastic Remaking our World”. My story was captured in an advert for Samsung Mobile Phones, the voices of Galaxy Series on Youtube. In 2024 i started collaborating with award-winning Interior designer Anna Campbell-Jones, from Scotland\'s Home of the Year. I was awarded a Points of Light award by the UK prime minister for sustainability and innovation.
