ABOUT ALLISON MACDONALD

Allison is a litigation associate in the aviation, franchise and business disputes practice groups at Alexander Holburn Beaudin + Lang LLP. Since being called to the bar in 2023, Allison has appeared as counsel at the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, and at the provincial court level in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland. She frequently assists clients with disputes at the Civil Resolution Tribunal of British Columbia. Allison has worked on a variety of disputes in the areas of aviation, personal injury, employment, insurance coverage, and commercial litigation. Within her aviation practice, she has advised and represented airlines in relation to baggage, delay, and personal injury claims, contractual disputes, and other transportation related matters. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Allison worked as a research assistant, a professional ballerina and in construction machinery sales. Allison obtained a Certificate of Honors in Dance from the Ailey School in 2014, studied at Capilano University in the Bachelor of Communications Program, and obtained her JD from Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law in 2022. In her first year of law school at Thompson Rivers University she won the Canadian Institute for Administration of Justice’s National Law Student Competition. She hosted a radio show for Pro Bono Students Canada and was an editor of the Canadian Journal of Comparative and Contemporary Law. Allison later competed as an oralist in the 2021 Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Throughout her time at law school, she worked as a research assistant to Craig Jones, K.C, providing significant research relating to trends in tribunal decision making. Allison’s awards include the Outstanding First-Year Moot Prize, the Dean’s Course Prize in Administrative Law, the Bill W. Eremko Memorial Law Award, and the TRU Law Dean’s Moot Prize. Allison graduated from TRU Law in 2022 on the Dean’s List. Outside of law, Allison has volunteered with the We Belong! art festival, which showcases the work of artists with disabilities in Vancouver. She enjoys ballet classes, trivia tournaments, and hiking with her family dogs, Maple, Butter and Poppy.
