About Allison Kaplan
I am a fourth-year doctoral candidate in Loyola University Maryland\'s Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program. I have experience providing individual psychotherapy in numerous settings including college counseling, private practice, and community mental health. I work collaboratively with clients to navigate life transitions, build resilience, and deepen self-understanding through insight. I believe in creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore challenges, strengthen their coping skills, and reconnect with what matters most to them. My approach to therapy is interpersonal and values-driven, incorporating elements from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am currently working at George Washington University\'s Counseling Center (CAPS) as a Clinical Extern providing individual short-term therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. I also work part-time at Children\'s National Hospital in the Celiac Disease Clinic conducting psychology consultations with patients. I graduated with college honors from Washington University in St. Louis in 2022, earning a dual degree in Psychology and Middle Eastern Studies, along with a minor in Children’s Studies. Within the Psychology major, I concentrated in Lifespan Development and served as a Research Assistant in the Cognition and Development Lab, where I further explored my interests in cognitive and emotional development across the lifespan.
