ABOUT ALLISON FERREIRA

HR Generalist with over 10 years’ experience, highly effective interpersonal/communication skills, and extensive knowledge and management experience in a comprehensive range of human resource practices. Key career accomplishments include:> Managed and executed all HR functions of the organization for several months during the COVID-19 pandemic while my Director was on medical leave. This included but was not limited to mass layoffs and terminations, recalling furloughed employees to work and managing two direct reports.> Learned how to process semi-monthly payroll for seven groups through “trial by fire” when the Payroll Administrator suddenly went on medical leave for three months. The process included salary increases for Staff and Associates, draw changes for Partners, bonus payments for both Partners and Associates, and calculating EI and CPP contributions for GRSP matches for Staff.> Learned how to reconcile and upload $150k in GRSP matches through Manulife portal and submit payment also through “trial by fire” with only days before the RSP deadline to figure it out.> Took initiative to research programs such as the “Not Myself Today” program for mental health offered by the Canadian Mental Health Association and “Work Perks” offered by Venngo so as to enhance employee well-being and the employee experience within my organization.> Also took initiative to research and learn about about diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace including researching the Black North Initiative and Law Firm Antiracism Alliance.> Attended various workshops for my own professional development with respect to employee engagement, employee mental health, diversity, equity and inclusion and employment law.> Researched the legalization of Marijuana and worked with Employment Counsel to update the organization’s Alcohol and Substance Abuse Policy in 2018.> Researched the requirements of the Customer Service Standard of the AODA for previous employer after I had left the organization to assist them while they were short-staffed. I am passionate about Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Employee Engagement, Mental Health and Well-being. I lead with empathy and by example.
