WORK HISTORY
Careers Leader and Personal Guidance Adviser @Sir John Leman High School
My role of Careers Leader and Personal Guidance Adviser involves careers education, work related learning, enterprise, raising aspirations and inspiring young people, mentoring and coaching and much more. I am very organised and self-driven and much of my work involves project management and working with students on cross curricular, work-based challenges and collaborating with organisations, businesses and alumni. Membership of the Career Development Institute keeps me up to date with career development work in education and provides regular CPD opportunities. I have close relationships with local FE & HE providers that provide many opportunities for our students to support their future learning and career aspirations. I am a member of local business associations and have a strong network of employers who regularly support events at the school. Students value meaningful encounters with employers as it helps raise aspirations and motivation, as well as providing a good understanding of the local labour market and job opportunities. Alongside my role as Learning Resource Centre Manager, I also lead on a local Librarian\'s Forum, helping to organise collaborative events to inspire young people\'s love of reading for pleasure and improve literacy. Author and editor - both for school and personal publications; World War I & II and The Crowfoot Family of Beccles. Being a perpetual learner, I am always curious and exploring new possibilities and ideas. I am very driven to succeed and am passionate in providing wide ranging opportunities for students to support their self-development. I am passionate about STE(A)M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths) as I recognise the increasing demand on these exciting careers now and in the future, and do much to encourage our female students in particular to be inspired and engaged in STE(A)M.
